Also known as putt-putt, mini-golf or crazy golf, this is a fun off-shoot of the parent sport (golf) that consists of putting only.
📍Willow Way Manor, Hillcrest.
🥳 Fun factor: unlike the parent sport, you can play this form of golf in less than an hour. It’s relaxed & fun, and while the point is to get the ball in the hole with the fewest number of putts, you can make up your own rules to spice things up.
🏋🏾♀️ Fitness level required: n/a the mini-golf course is usually quite short and easy to walk. The point of this game is to practice putting & have fun.
👧🏽 Suitability for kids: Yes. Ask for the small putters for the little ones. In truth, they’re more likely to use the putter as a walking aid or weapon, but they’ll love the idea that they’re also “playing golf”.
💸 Costs: R25 per person (ball/putter included). Please note the price differs at different venues so check first.
🤩 What we loved most:
– Willow way manor has a beautifully designed outdoor course set on an exquisitely manicured lawn. The course itself boasts a number of water features with some ramps, tunnels and turns to test your putting skills.
– Other than the lovely setting, we really enjoyed playing the game itself. We made up rules, we helped each other and we laughed a lot. At some point, the kids got tired and wandered off for an adventure in the wetlands and then came back to play swingball.
🚦What you need to know: if you go when the weather is good, it’s easy to spend 3-4 hours here. Open between Wed – Sunday between 09:00 – 15:00, their cafe offers a mouthwatering farm style menu and the most deliciously moist cake. Garden picnics can also be arranged through their restaurant for you to enjoy on the large open lawns.
