Burman Bush Trail

📍Morningside, Durban.

We found this nature reserve unexpectedly after trying 2 other outdoor venues in the area which are currently closed due to COVID restrictions. We’ll be back for Mitchell Parl (a classic) & Jameson Park Rose Garden but, in the meantime, here’s a good alternative for your outdoor stroll.

🥳 Fun factor: these outdoor “adventures” are becoming a hit with the kids and we love that there are so many places in KZN to explore with them. Burman Bush, in particular, is lush and mystical in feel making for a great outing with kids.

🏋🏾‍♀️ Fitness level required: for everyone. There are 3 marked trails ranging from 500m – 2km. Short as they seem, you could easily find yourself wondering through the forest for more than an hour.

👧🏽 Suitability for kids: yes.

💸 Costs: free.

🤩 What we loved most.
– as a surprise find in the heart of Morningside, this nature reserve is a great escape from the surrounding hustle & bustle. It makes for easy outing with the kids or for a nice peaceful walk (sans kids). It is scattered with lookout benches along the trail and you can also enjoy a picnic in some of the open areas. Finally, it’s patrolled by security guards giving one added reassurance about safety.

🚦What you need to know: wear firm soled shoes to avoid thorns spoiling your walk. Insect repellent is also a good idea.

In short: an easy enchanting stroll.
