📍Durban North, KZN
Perhaps better described as Japanese-inspired, this is a lovely place to take a relaxed stroll or have a picnic. A few upgrades and touch ups in 2019 have enabled this park to reclaim its former glory.
🥳 Fun factor: meandering through the garden is both relaxing and peaceful. We went on a quiet day and were able to explore the whole garden at leisure appreciating the various ponds, the colourful flora and the characteristic Japanese features dotted throughout the park.
🏋🏾♀️ Fitness level required: very much passive recreation, come here to find your zen and to restore your mental well-being.
👧🏽 Suitability for kids: Yes. Pram friendly, large open spaces to safely run around, and also a play area with jungle gyms and slides.
💸 Costs: Free.
🤩 What we loved most:
– The Garden has numerous walking paths which are pram and wheelchair friendly and take you past all the lovely features of ponds, blossoms, reeds and characteristic Japanese structures.
– It attracts a variety of people including families for picnics, couples taking romantic walks and, like us, people curious to explore new places.
🚦What you need to know: apparently it does get quite busy on weekends so if you want a peaceful, quiet experience then choose your time carefully.
In short: slow down and find peace in these lovely gardens.
100 outdoor experiences in 100 days – KZN has it all 🤸🏾♀️☀️😆
