📍Kenneth Stainbank Nature Reserve
This reserve deserves the BIGGEST shoutout for being so intentional about inclusion! Wheelchair accessible trails, braille, easy to intermediate routes – everyone is welcome here.
🥳Fun factor: This gem of a nature reserve has plenty to see in terms of birds, buck, dassies and various other wild life. It’s lush and lovely inspiring many “I’m so glad I came here” moments.
🏋🏾♀️Fitness level: everyone is welcome here – and we mean everyone!
👧🏾 Suitability for kids: absolutely. There is plenty of space for kids to run around and explore safely. There are also well designed picnic areas where you can sit down and (safely) enjoy a refreshing snack.
💸Cost: R40 for adults and R20 for children
🤩 What we loved most: we absolutely LOVED that it is designed to be inclusive, wheelchair accessible and accommodating of all physical abilities. They had us at hello (everyone).
🚦What you need to know: Watch out for the 🐍 in the forest! Don’t let this put you off though, just keep your eyes peeled and don’t loose sight of the children. Also bring lots of water – the nature reserve is bigger than you may initially think and you want to stay well hydrated as you enjoy your walk.
In short: inclusion is the solution, and Kenneth Stainbank has nailed it. Much respect and a big thumbs up from us. Enjoy!
