Rap Jumping

📍Spirit of Adventure, Shongweni

“Rap Jumping is an advanced form of freestyle rope work. It is an adventure sport that involves forward abseiling and rappelling, where participants descend a vertical surface by means of a fixed rope in a standing position while facing the ground. “ Okay then, let’s do it.

🥳Fun factor: a real adrenaline rush! The toughest part is standing on the edge before you start your descent. You ask yourself ALL kinds of questions about your “why” at this point. Once you’re over the edge (literally) it’s a rush down the wall & over before you know it! It was so nice, we did it twice.

🏋🏾‍♀️Fitness level: n/a

👧🏾 Suitability for kids: probably not for those younger than 7yo. Other limitation will just be guts.

💸Cost: R200 for one activity or R300 for two (adults), and R100 per activity (kids)

🤩 What we loved most:
– The initial adrenaline rush! It also felt good to be running free down a wall. Seriously 🤞🏾In fact, by the time you do it the second time, you wish the wall was higher/longer 😁

🚦What you need to know: we had fun with today’s adrenaline pumping adventures but there’s so much Shongweni has to offer we felt like we could have spent the whole day there. There’s canoeing, abseiling, trail walks, an assault course & picnicking. If you’re planning a trip here, pack a picnic and make it a whole day affair so you get the full experience.

In short: there’s a spirit of adventure in all of us waiting to be unleashed – make this the year to let it free 💫
