Ride & Walk More(Wood) – Morewood Activity Centre

If it’s nice – do it twice! Ride & walk More(wood).

📍Morewood Farm & Activity Centre, Hillcrest.

🥳Fun factor: I rode it first – loved it – and came back to walk it with the kids.
🎼 It’s good good good, it’s good it’s nice!

🏋🏾‍♀️Fitness level: There are 3 routes to enjoy from 6km – 12.5km accommodating all fitness levels.

👧🏾 Suitability for kids: that’s a yes. Take them to the waterfall or treehouse for a fun adventure. There’s also a play area by the coffee shop for them to enjoy after the outdoor action.

💸Cost: R50 for day visitors. Kids under 5 don’t pay.

🤩 What we loved most:
– Riding: lots of single track, some rock gardens, a few switchbacks and after the rain it became a bit muddy/slippery making it that much more fun. Although it will test you, this is entirely rideable by the beginner to intermediate mountain biker.
– Walking: we went to see the 4 story treehouse and although they couldn’t climb it, it made for a short but fun adventure. Walking past a “wishing well”, we also got to make wishes with pebbles. We didn’t make it to the waterfall this time but it was still a fun relaxed afternoon outdoors with the kids asking when we were coming back #mamastayswinning
– The food is delicious and they make a mean home brewed iced tea! Ask about the different flavours.

🚦What you need to know:
– the longest route is 12.5km but you can double up and mix them up for more distance & time in the saddle.
– the trick with walking trails with kids is to make it an adventure and follow their lead. Stop to pick up stones, look at insects & tell stories. This isn’t your training walk/run so don’t time it – take it easy, step into their fantasy world and enjoy it right alongside them.
