📍Mqeku Picnic Site, Valley of a Thousand Hills
This was the 2nd of three outdoors adventures we experienced while camping @mqekupicnicsite891 . Our only regret is that we weren’t out there for longer. Next time, we’re tubing down Umgeni river which is a loooong ride. Apparently it’s a vibe.
🥳Fun factor: the simplest things make for the most fun. A tube + water + funvibes = Hours of play.
🏋🏾♀️Fitness level: n/a. Just hang on tight!
👧🏾 Suitability for kids: it would depend on the depth of water you’re in and the speed & strength of flow.
💸Cost: part of the @greencorridors package. Alternatively, contact Sibusiso Shangase who manages the picnic site for day enquiries. DM for info.
🤩 What we loved most: we felt young again! Free, happy, and spirited. It’s wholesome, absorbing & you’ll find yourself going back again and again for the thrill. When last did you find yourself with wrinkled skin from hours playing in the water?
🚦What you need to know:
– while the helmets & life jackets initially seemed a bit extra, we appreciate that the organisers were being particularly cautious given the fast flowing water & rocks in that section. Once or twice, the helmets were, in fact, put to the test.
– we should also warn you that your hammies (hamstring muscles) will be feeling it the next day. But it’s totally worth it.
In short: FUN. Wholesome, captivating, skin wrinkling fun.
