📍Umdloti
Another one of Durban’s best kept secrets, we’re so happy to have been referred here for number 70! We got to colour both bush AND beach – which is perfectly fitting (best of both worlds) as we start our count down to 100 🎉
🥳 Fun factor: being outdoors in nature is always fun. We’ve run out of different ways to say this so we’ll just put it out there as a fact. Please do yourself a favour: get outside! (As a habit and also at least once this weekend).
🏋🏾♀️ Fitness level required: Umdloti forest offers a number of trails, the shortest of which is a 500m stretch to a beautiful beach (impithi). The longer trails are Igwalagwala, impunzi, umpafa, and nogwaja (which takes you along Sibaya Estate border). Impunzi (yellow) while only a short 2km trail definitely turned the heat up.
👧🏽 Suitability for kids: yes.
💸 Costs: free.
🤩 What we loved most:
– The mix the bush and beach always excites us. It’s like getting to have your cake and eat it! Even without getting into the water, being at the beach is both soothing and invigorating.
🚦What you need to know: there is no parking by the trail head and there is no off road parking close by so you need park a distance (500m) away and walk there. In summer it’s also extremely humid so do bring water.
In short: bush and beach – a winning formula.
Also – can you believe we’re at SEVENTY?! Thanks for all the suggestions that got us here 🙏🏾🎉
100 outdoor experiences in 100 days – KZN has it all!🤸🏾♀️☀️😆
