Snorkelling at Ushaka

What we see is only a fraction of what is. Look beneath the surface.

#22. Snorkelling 🤿

📍Ushaka Marine World, KZN.

🥳Fun factor: life underwater is all kinds of beautiful. A real treat to be immersed in such vibrance!

🏋🏾‍♀️Fitness level: if you can float, it has my vote. There’s absolutely nothing strenuous about floating above water (with the help of a life vest), while marvelling at the vibrant marine life beneath you.

👧🏾 Suitability for Kids: same as above – if they can float, it’s a yes.

đź’¸Cost: R50 for a 30min snorkel. What a steal! Just note that this is an off-peak special, so prices will revert to the usual R111 when peak season starts.

🤩 What we loved most:
– It’s great for the person new to open or deep water adventure. The contained environment that has no current makes for a pleasant and safe experience.
– There is so much life beneath the surface. It’s always captivating to observe the beauty of this rich ecosystem. So close yet so easy to miss if we don’t care, or know, to look deeper.

Now read that last bit again and apply it to life in general. Always look beneath the surface. You’ll be wiser for it, and most of the time it will be a wonderful discovery.

🚦 What you need to know: although there’s plenty marine life to see (even baby sharks!), it is a contained space so if you’re used to open water snorkelling you may find the size limiting.

Also – our underwater pictures don’t do justice to the vibrance underwater so check out Instagram highlight #22 for a better video or actually, just go snorkelling and see for yourself!
