📍Durban North, KZN
Before this journey, we weren’t aware that Durban had so many nature reserves and trails to explore. We feel immensely thankful to have discovered this side of Durban and we are thrilled to be able to share as we explore #makethecirclebigger
🥳 Fun factor: a quiet and peaceful nature reserve, good to still the mind or for a catch up stroll with friends/family.
🏋🏾♀️ Fitness level required: beginner to intermediate. The reserve has a maze of trails running through it so it’s entirely possible to spend up to 2 hours walking or running these trails. The circular route around the reserve is 1.5km, although with all the cross crossing and exploring we easily (&happily) walked 3km before heading out.
👧🏽 Suitability for kids: yes.
💸 Costs: free.
🤩 What we loved most:
– Best known for the birdlife, this 38ha reserve is a quiet and peaceful slice of nature in the middle of suburbia. As you enter you walk past a lovely purpose built dam before hitting the well built trails.
– Dogs are allowed here but only in the lower section of the reserve opposite the main gate. Bring the #furbabies 🦮
🚦What you need to know: on reading up about the reserve, we learned that there have previously been isolated incidents of crime reported. Drastic steps have since been taken to ensure the trails are safe and devoid of such & many continue to enjoy these trails. That said, please remain vigilant.
In short: #getoutside #beactive #exploremore
100 outdoor experiences in 100 days – KZN has it all!🤸🏾♀️☀️😆
