Yoga in the park

“Sky above. Earth below. Peace within.” Bring on the #zen

42. Yoga in the Park

📍 Durban Botanic Gardens

During a casual stroll at Botanical Gardens, we had the great fortune of bumping into Xolani and Nontando looking ready to get their Zen on. We boldly asked if we could join & Xolani replied: yoga should be freely given and freely received. Yass to being inclusive!! 🙌🏾

🥳Fun factor: happiness is a state of inner fulfilment. @dreadlockedyogi was positively beaming.

🏋🏾‍♀️Fitness level: everyone is welcome.

👧🏾 Suitability for kids: yebo! They may not start off doing a whole 60min session but there are many elements of yoga (like mindfulness, breathing, self awareness) that are extremely valuable for kids of all ages.

💸Cost: varies with trainer and circumstances but will either be free, donation based or there may be a fixed per person fee.

🤩 What we loved most:
It’s true that the quieter you are, the more you are able to hear. Yoga always gives me a heightened sense of awareness & connection to my mental, emotional and physical state. It’s a journey inward. A means of making peace & finding joy with what is.

🚦What you need to know: there are different forms of yoga & it may be worthwhile reading up a bit about these so that you join a style of yoga that’s well aligned. You do chant in most forms of yoga which may feel odd at the beginning if you aren’t used to it. Release your mind of the cluttering thoughts, and you’ll start to appreciate how the chanting energizes and centres you.

In short: every day is a good day to get zen. We loved it so much we’re planning to organise a Colour The Trails Yoga at the Park event when circumstances allow. Stay tuned!
